Make a real difference in mental health crisis support

Independence Support is looking for an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to join our Countywide Crisis Service in Cheshire East.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate health and social care professional to take on a key leadership role within a specialist mental health crisis service, helping to ensure people receive safe, high-quality and recovery-focused support when they need it most.

The Countywide Crisis Service delivers crisis interventions through hubs, community outreach, digital support and partnership working, providing flexible support to people experiencing a mental health crisis.

Working alongside the Service Manager, you will provide day-to-day operational leadership, support frontline teams and help ensure the service consistently meets contractual, quality and governance standards.

About the Role

As Deputy Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operational management of the Countywide Crisis Service.

You’ll provide professional operational leadership to frontline teams, helping staff deliver person-centred, recovery-focused support while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and safeguarding.

You will also deputise for the Service Manager when required and contribute to the continued development and improvement of the service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the day-to-day operational management of the service
  • Providing leadership and guidance to frontline crisis support teams
  • Supporting staff to deliver safe, high-quality and recovery-focused mental health support
  • Maintaining effective quality assurance and governance systems
  • Supporting performance management and contractual requirements
  • Promoting effective safeguarding and risk management
  • Developing strong relationships with partner organisations and professionals
  • Supporting service development and continuous improvement
  • Contributing to health and safety and information governance
  • Supporting the effective use of resources across the service
  • Deputising for the Service Manager when required
  • Participating in on-call duties

About You

We’re looking for a confident and compassionate leader who understands the importance of providing effective support to people experiencing mental health difficulties or crisis.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience in health and social care, mental health or a similar environment
  • Experience of leading or supervising teams
  • Strong organisational and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working skills
  • A good understanding of safeguarding, risk management and quality assurance
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A commitment to person-centred, recovery-focused support
  • The confidence to provide leadership across a range of crisis support settings

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care, or a willingness to achieve this
  • NVQ Level 3 or above in Health & Social Care or Mental Health
  • GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent

Working Pattern

This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week.

The service operates across a 7-day rota, including day and night shifts, so flexibility is required. The role also includes weekly on-call responsibilities.
