Independence Support (ISL) provides specialist supported living in York, West Yorkshire, offering intensive, person-centred support to adults with Autism and Asperger’s. Our Portland Street service supports five individuals in modern, self-contained apartments equipped with advanced assistive technology.
Our aim is to empower people to live independently, confidently, and safely, with meaningful opportunities to develop life skills, enjoy new experiences, and thrive in their community.

What You’ll Do
As a Support Worker at Portland Street, you’ll provide outcome-focused, person-centred support designed to promote independence and positive development. Your role will include:
- Medication support
- Teaching and encouraging life skills
- Assistance with daily routines and household tasks
- Supporting people to access the community and engage in meaningful activities
- Providing emotional support
- Supporting tenancy management
- Working closely with health and social care professionals
Your support helps each person build confidence, develop essential skills, and enjoy a fulfilling life.
Who We’re Looking For
We are recruiting for:
- Full-Time Support Workers – 37.5 hours
- Part-Time Support Workers – 23.5 hours
You must be able to work day and night shifts as part of a 7-day rota. A full induction and training package is provided.
