Coach Sean

I’m an extremely proud member of the ISL team in my capacity as a Fitness/Nutrition, Health and Wellbeing Advisor, specialising in exercise for vulnerable adults.

I bring almost 20 years of service in the Royal Air Force, including several operational tours overseas representing the armed forces.

Fitness, sport and mental well-being have been at the forefront throughout my military career, representing and winning honours for the RAF in Taekwondo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I have completed many endurance events from climbing Mount Triglav to combat exercises in the Bergamot Mountains. Even when in austere and hostile environments with little to no equipment available, I have promoted the need to maintain physical health due to its intrinsic relationship with mental health. I currently manage one of the Gymnasiums on a large RAF base which helps prepare servicemen and servicewomen for the physical requirements that military life demands.

Military personnel face unique risks whilst serving which has only been truly recognised in recent years. I have long been aware of combat stress indicators and mental health issues within the Armed Forces, this has driven me to become a mental health First Aider and undertake multiple stress awareness courses, affording me the key techniques to deal with mental health issues and be in a position to help those who require bespoke support.

I have been serving the country for many years and this role is an extension of that service in more localised community based settings, I am incredibly excited to be able to join a team that is dedicated to making a difference and look forward to the future with ISL.
