Stoke Service Brings Community Together for Dougie Mac Fundraising Fun Day

Written by: ISL

Clients and colleagues at Independence Support’s Stoke service came together for a fantastic day of community, fundraising and plenty of fun in support of the Dougie Mac Hospice in August.

The event brought together clients, colleagues and members of the local community for a range of fundraising activities, including a raffle, tombola (with some fantastic prizes donated by local businesses), bric-a-brac sale, cakes and coffee, and even some specially prepared duck food for the local ducks!

Client DG played a big part in making the day such a success. Through his regular walks around the local area, DG has built connections with people in the community and invited some of the friendly locals he knows to come along and support the event.

He also prepared floating duck food to sell, which proved incredibly popular and quickly sold out. It seems the local ducks were happy with the fundraising efforts too!

The day was about much more than fundraising. It provided a wonderful opportunity for clients to connect with people from the local community, spend time together and enjoy an event they had helped to organise and bring to life.

There was also a very popular way to raise some extra money, with Service Manager Morgan agreeing to take part in a wet sponge and bucket-of-water challenge.

Clients, colleagues and visitors were more than happy to get involved, and Morgan certainly proved to be a good sport as everyone took their turn trying to soak him!

The event reflects the importance we place on community involvement across our supported living services. Activities such as these give clients opportunities to develop connections, contribute to their local communities and take an active role in organising events and fundraising.

The final fundraising total is still being confirmed, but the day was a fantastic success and everyone involved should be incredibly proud of what they achieved.

A huge well done to our Stoke clients and colleagues for organising such a brilliant event, and a special thank you to everyone from the local community who came along, donated and supported the day.

We’re incredibly proud to see our Stoke service making such positive connections within its local community while supporting an important local charity like Dougie Mac.
