ISL invests in new vehicle for Rapid Response mental health transport service

Independence Support has invested in a brand-new Ford Tourneo, becoming the first ISL-owned vehicle dedicated to its specialist Rapid Response service.

Independence Support has taken another important step in the continued development of its Rapid Response service, with the arrival of a brand-new Ford Tourneo dedicated to providing safe, secure and compassionate mental health transport.

The new vehicle represents a significant investment in the service as ISL continues to develop its Rapid Response provision and explore opportunities to support NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Boards, local authorities and other partners across the region.

Safe and secure mental health transport

ISL’s Rapid Response service provides specialist support for people experiencing mental health crises, including secure mental health transport to help individuals access the appropriate care safely and with dignity.

The team works alongside healthcare and community partners to support people at what can be an incredibly difficult and vulnerable time. Safe, reliable transport is an important part of ensuring people can reach the right place of care while receiving compassionate and professional support throughout their journey.

The new Ford Tourneo has been selected with the needs of both the people being supported and the colleagues delivering the service in mind, providing a modern, comfortable and reliable vehicle for the many miles covered by the Rapid Response team.

Investing in the future of Rapid Response

This is the first vehicle owned directly by ISL for its Rapid Response service, representing an important milestone as the organisation continues to invest in and develop its specialist mental health transport provision.

Having a dedicated, modern vehicle gives the Rapid Response team the resources they need to continue delivering a responsive service while maintaining a strong focus on safety, dignity and quality of care.

Paul, one of ISL’s Rapid Response Managers, was one of the first to get behind the wheel of the new Tourneo, taking it out on its first journey and getting to grips with all the new features and controls.
