Jade’s Story: From Hospital to Independent Living

Jade’s journey is a powerful example of what recovery in supported living can look like with the right care, environment, and determination.

After spending six years in hospital, Jade moved into our Morley Supported Living service at Independence Support Ltd (ISL). Like many people experiencing long-term mental health challenges, Jade once felt that independent living might not be possible. Today, her story shows just how much can change with the right support network in place.

Since joining ISL, Jade has made significant progress in building her independence and confidence. She enjoys creative activities such as arts and crafts and has a real talent for writing poetry, using creativity as a positive outlet for self-expression and wellbeing. Jade is also known within the service for her kindness and the support she offers to others, making her a valued member of the community.

At ISL, our supported living services are designed to empower individuals with complex mental health needs to live more independently, develop life skills, and achieve personal goals. Jade’s journey reflects the impact of person-centred support and the importance of creating environments where people feel safe, encouraged, and able to grow.

Jade shares a message of hope for others who may be struggling with their mental health. Reflecting on her time in hospital, she explains that she once couldn’t see a future beyond it. Now, living more independently, she wants others to know that recovery is possible. With time, support, and perseverance, positive change can happen.
