November Round-Up 2025

Written by: ISL

November has been a busy and heart-warming month across our Independence Support (ISL) services. From creative projects and wellbeing activities to exciting days out and community events, our teams and clients have embraced every opportunity to learn, connect and have fun. Here’s what we’ve been up to…

Chester – Days Out and Discovery

Our Chester clients enjoyed two brilliant outings this month.
First up was a friendly bowling trip filled with laughs and plenty of healthy competition. Later in the month, they visited the Shropshire Ironworks Centre, where the incredible large-scale sculptures made the day especially memorable. It was a fantastic chance to enjoy the outdoors and explore something new together.

Alsager – Remembrance Day Creativity

To mark Remembrance Day, our Alsager clients created beautiful and meaningful poppy artwork.

One piece featured silhouettes of soldiers with colourful poppies flowing behind them, while another was a handcrafted ISL poppy wreath. These thoughtful creations are now proudly displayed in service as a tribute to those who served.

Middlewich – Wellbeing in Nature

Clients LT and TT enjoyed a peaceful autumn wellbeing walk around Shakerley Mere, taking in the crisp air and golden leaves.

They also made time for a bit of fun and development – a practice job interview during the walk! Both clients are preparing to start a new cookery course soon, and their confidence is growing every day. See our Instagram for the full interview – they certainly drive a hard bargain!

Crewe – Cooking Up a Storm

The weekly Crewecial cooking and baking sessions have been a huge hit this month.
Clients rolled up their sleeves to make pies, scones and even gingerbread men – keep an eye out for the brilliant Gingerbread Ginge inspired by Shrek! These sessions continue to support life skills, independence and healthy eating in a fun, hands-on way.

Bolton & Leeds – Health and Wellbeing With Coach Sean

Coach Sean visited our Bolton, Leeds Rathmell and Leeds Cross Green services to deliver engaging health and wellbeing workshops.
Clients got moving with accessible exercise sessions and learnt how to cook new nutritious dishes, including hearty stew and tasty chicken fajitas. A brilliant month for building confidence in both fitness and cooking.

Leeds Morley – Creativity and Connection

Jade has been expressing herself beautifully through her poetry.
This month, she created a stunning canvas of her poem “My Safety Blanket” as a gift for the ISL team, as well as another thoughtful piece for volunteers at her weekly Battle Scars support group. Her talent and openness continue to inspire everyone around her.

Rapid Response – Improving Patient Experience

Our Rapid Response team took part in a collaborative patient experience mapping project with Wirral University Teaching Hospital and CWP.

Being part of this important work will help shape improvements in emergency care and ensure patient voices are heard every step of the way.

Recruitment – Growing Our ISL Family

Morgan, our newly promoted Middlewich Manager, and Olivia from our Recruitment Team attended a busy careers event in Kidsgrove. They met potential new team members from Stoke, Sandbach, Alsager and the surrounding areas.

Live! Cheshire Winter Ball – A Night to Remember

Teams from Chester and Rapid Response attended the Live! Cheshire Winter Ball, where they enjoyed inspiring stories from members and volunteers and danced the night away to the brilliant Chester Big Band. It was a wonderful way to celebrate community, inclusion and the work of local organisations.

Silklife Food Bank – Giving Back to Our Community

This month we also visited the Silklife Food Bank, where we were shown the incredible work their team does to support local families in crisis.
From learning about the five-step process that ensures people receive the right support, to exploring the different emergency food bags they offer, it was an eye-opening and inspiring visit. We also had the chance to see their Community Hub, a welcoming space where people can access guidance, warmth and connection.

Hearing Dan share the powerful story of Ukrainian refugees supported by the food bank was a reminder of why community partnerships are so important. We’re proud to shine a light on the vital work Silklife are doing.
