Aeturnum Libertas. Never Give Up Day!

Hello Readers.

Well. I didn’t know that Never Give Up Day was even a thing! Celebrated on the 18th of August 2025. And although the day has already passed, I feel it is relevant to everyone in today’s society.

Anyone who knows me well, will tell you just how much I love life! I think there is lots of beauty and richness to be found in it! In even the smallest, seemingly insignificant moments!

In fact, I think that my life is indeed a series of rich and simply beautiful moments! Which when you put them all together, they make up quite a rare and unique tapestry that is my life!

And it is up to us as individuals to see our lives in that way!  My own coping mechanism is to hold on to any and all of these moments so tightly when things are far from easy for me.

Almost as a fuel to get me through any and all of my darkest times. Of which there have been quite a few.

I am not naïve enough to sit here and tell you that it is easy to stay positive! Not least because I am a very emotionally driven person. Who is also guilty of chronic overthinking! I have learnt to give myself time to process any and all of my devastating feelings. And then slowly except that I can’t perhaps change them – No matter how much it may break my heart. So it is about changing my mindset in an effort to move forward in my own time. And hopefully in a determined and more positive way.

Thankfully I think we, as those with disabilities. Have to adopt a never give up approach to our lives on a daily basis.  Almost as a given. Otherwise. It is my firm belief that we would never be able to cope with everything that life throws at us. Through my lived experience. I have learned that having a determined approach to any potential problem is the best form of attack against it! Sometimes we have to accept that we can’t change a situation that makes us want to give up. Even in the most devastating of circumstances.  We often have to accept that we have no control over a desired outcome. The bottom line is what choice do we have?  But to choose to somehow forge forward towards better times.

Never Give Up Day is a chance for humanity to come together to build each other up. It is so deeply human. A chance to connect with others and build some much needed support systems. Many people’s lives today are so very busy. Never Give Up Day is a chance to bring the focus back to what is most important in our lives.

To shine a light on the world in one small, yet very significant step towards immovable unity.

My beautiful Mum has taught me that it is totally acceptable to choose not to do something. And that failure is never failure if you show up.

It helps to have people who can convince us that giving up is the worst idea that we have ever had!

I hope to see you all at the I.S.L. Gala Ball 2025!

An event very close to my heart.

Thanks for reading!
