Dave and Sean Take on a 71-Mile Charity Walk for Mental Health

Written by: ISL

We’re pleased to announce a new charity challenge taking place this spring, as Dave, CEO of Independence Support Ltd (ISL), and Coach Sean, ISL’s Wellbeing Coach, prepare to take on a 71-mile walk over five days in support of mental health.

From 23rd–27th March, Dave and Sean will walk an average of 14–15 miles a day, starting at Wembley Stadium — chosen to honour the location where Frank Bruno won his world heavyweight title in 1995 — and finishing in Northampton at the Frank Bruno Foundation.

Building on last year’s ‘Walk to Work’

This challenge follows on from Dave and Sean’s “Walk to Work” last year, where they covered 99 miles, took 226,651 steps, and raised £3,342 for local charity partners. That experience — which included long days, muddy fields and unexpected detours — has helped inform their preparation for this year’s route.

Why this matters

Dave has a long career in social care and is now CEO of ISL, an organisation focused on supporting people with learning disabilities and those experiencing mental health challenges to develop the skills they need to live happier, more independent lives. Coach Sean works across ISL supporting wellbeing and resilience for both colleagues and the people they support.

This walk reflects ISL’s ongoing commitment to mental health awareness and community-based support — values that sit at the heart of the organisation.

Working alongside the Frank Bruno Foundation

The connection with the Frank Bruno Foundation began last year when Frank Bruno attended ISL’s annual awards ceremony, speaking openly about his boxing career, the work of the Foundation, and the importance of mental health. This year’s walk continues that shared commitment to raising awareness and reducing stigma.
