MAY ‘22 Health & Wellbeing Blog! The 5 Steps to Mental Wellbeing

Written by: ISL

This month’s blog came to mind after speaking to Richie who looks after the ‘Crisis Café’ in Crewe. We are arranging an upcoming event in which he suggested discussing the 5 Steps to Mental Wellbeing’. I could sense his passion on this subject which made me dig deeper into this topic.

As we approach the half-way point of 2022, it is really important to assess and address any mental health issues we feel may be building up.

The ‘5 steps to Mental Wellbeing’ is a fantastic way to improve your sense of wellbeing and to build resilience.

The World Health Organisation defines ‘health’ as a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

This model below is widely used by the NHS, why not consider each of these steps as being part of your ‘5 a day’ for positive wellbeing;

I love the simplicity yet powerful illustration of the model above, covering all 5 steps in an easy to take-away guide. Let’s look into each step in a bit more detail;

As a fitness coach, the ‘Be Active’ step is hugely important to me as I have seen the difference first hand in remaining active and how this improves mental health, especially within the military where it is at the very heart of what we do.

Please get in touch if you need any advice on how to stay active in the right way!

Give the ‘5 Steps to Wellbeing’ a go today, try and tick off each step and see how you feel at the end of the day!

I hope you gained some benefit from this blog and I look forward to engaging with you all throughout 2022.
