Sam Swithenbank

I am service manager for the Macclesfield supported living service supporting individuals with learning disability, autism and complex needs. I am excited about this new service and am keen to create a positive, inspiring service to help others achieve their independence and potential, working together with my new staff team.

I have worked in health and social care for around 10 years in varying roles working up from a support worker, to an assistant psychologist and researcher, to a service manager & in my previous role achieving my level 5 in leadership and management in health and social care.

Professionally, I have worked predominantly with individuals with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour as well as complex mental health. Personally, I was recently diagnosed with autism as was my son and daughter. At times I have had to support them to understand the world from a different perspective.

I love to help a person overcome a challenge, play to strengths and explore what someone would like to achieve in a person-centred way. I want to support a person in a way that enables them to be themselves whilst also learning skills and developing a life in the way that someone wants to aspire to.  This has been one of the reasons why I enjoy working within health and social care.
